AS-interface Safety at Work is a successful story. World-wide are more than 80,000 Safety at Work systems installed, more than 600,000 devices are in the use and the growth of safety-related devices lies over 60%.
Even in the automation safety became more and more important. When at the end of 2011 the transition period of the EN 954-1 runs out there are new rules for the safety technology.

In applications with few E/As dominates still the parallel wiring. Even if AS-Interface would fit for these applications well, some companies don’t want to use a special AS-Interface power supply.
With the possibility to use an already existing 24V power supply also for AS-interface, the communication system captures a further group of users, which could not profit until now from the advantages of such systems.

The AS-Interface accreditation provides every two years an investigation of the test laboratories. The AS-Interface laboratory Leipzig (Steinbeis-Transferzentrum) was examined and the accreditation of the laboratory is confirmed. The continuation of the certification test in Leipzig is ensured.
Since the beginning the laboratory Leipzig tested AS-Interface products. Therewith it contribute essential to the fact that the number of certified AS-Interface products meanwhile lays over 1500. A success that consists in demanding tests closed to the application. All components of an AS-Interface network could be tested and award a certification. Certified products may be signed with the shadow-logo and a verification number.
Having certified AS-Interface products the user can rely on the compliance to the specification. Only technical correct products pass the test.

On June 24 2010, the annual board meeting and the member’s assembly of AS-Interface Japan took place in Tokyo. AS-i Japan, behind Germany, the second largest User organization worldwide, defined the targets for automation market Japan...
AS-Interface is the Standard for the Sensor/Actuator level in Japan. This shows up in the approval lists of Japanese Car Manufacturers, many machine and plant equipment manufacturers and since two years now in the country specific AS-Interface standard. The Japanese automation market is general different to the European automation market, because on the Fieldbus level CC-Link is the market leader. This shows more than other things that the openness to all Fieldbus systems and Ethernet solutions is making AS-Interface the solution for the Sensor Actuator level.

In the fast growing Chinese automation market the AS-Interface market share constantly increased. With a reorganisation the local AS-Interface user organization in China shows the continuous success and the significance increase of AS-Interface in the Chinese automation market.
New operative contact person of the AS-Interface organization at China is Mr. Yu Zhipeng.
The new formed organization starts now with the Chinese translation of the automation book "AS-Interface is easy".
That AS-Interface is furthermore on the advance in China, the organization shows also through the planned seminars and the fair participations in 2010.
