AS-Interface G11 Module – unique and clever design makes IP68/69k easy

The new AS-Interface G11 module according to specification 3.0 stand out immediately due to its compact, round design combined with the unique ability to be mounted such that the AS-Interface flat cable can be routed in any direction. The round design enables superior IP protection (IP68/69k) is resistant to pressure wash down and clearing solutions and due to its smooth exterior gives dirt and grime minimal contact area. For the first time the G11 module make use of two radial o-rings, riding on precision conical housing components. Optimal o-ring mounting pressure is guaranteed by design! The result is exceptional protection without encapsulation of the internal electronics. The round design offers another welcome advantage. When mounted to a machine the AS-Interface flat cable can be routed in any direction, allowing perfect fit each and every time. Sealing at the AS-Interface flat cable is accomplished using the proven technology successfully used on Pepperl+Fuchs passive splitters: The symmetric sealing contours around the gold plated piercing pins provide a precise fit to the AS-Interface cable. The only externally exposed materials used are impact resistant and chemically inert PBT and stainless steel. The sturdy mounting base is designed to be attached using just two M5 screws and further enhances the already impact resistant round design.
The G11 family is already compatible with AS-Interface POWER24 and can thus be operated on 24VDC. Using the special AS-i power supply will then not be necessary. The outputs can provide a cumulative current of 6A and offer the innovative, port specific overload indication first introduced with the Pepperl+Fuchs G12 modules. This reduces trouble shooting and increases machine uptime.
